Budget tips
Spend less than you make It may sound obvious, but one of the keys to staying out of debt is to spend less than you make. This is harder than it sounds. The first step toward meeting this goal is actually tracking where you are spending money. If you've never done this before, you'll be surprised where you spend large portions of your income.
There are obvious areas that will be a large chunk of your income such as mortgage, rent, insurance, groceries, etc. If you're thinking of buying a house, don't get a mortgage whose payment is more than 25% of your monthly income. That's a good start. Once you start tracking your spending, you'll notice other areas where you can cut back. Don't use your credit card to buy things for which you don't have means to pay.
