Wait a day before spending over $100 One thing I have learned about myself is that I like to buy gadgets. I recently bought an iPhone, and I love it. However, the tendency to buy gadgets could easily become a problem for my desire to live debt free. To keep this tendency in check, and to help my budget, I have made a rule for myself that I will wait a day before buying something that costs more than $100. By doing this, I have found that I can more easily talk myself out of impulse buying. The next day it's easier to reason with myself and work these purchases into my budget, if I really need them at all.
